Sunday July 20th, 2003 I think she's keeping her name. She seems to know it. Of the adults taken out of the house, Disco was the most terrifed. To look at her you would never think she came from such terrible conditions. She weighs a healthy 42 pounds. The vet checked her yesterday and didn't think she was pregnant, however she could be in early stages. Three weeks in is earliest but if there's only 1 puppy a vet may not find it at all even then. I will about getting her to our vet this week. He's pretty good at finding puppies. She is a beautiful grey and white, 3 yr old female with bi eyes. She is said to be the mother of Gus and Mabel. I would not place her as an only dog. She does like the company of other dogs. Does well in a crate and no accidents in the house so far. Right now she is lounging on the couch. She pretty much velcoed herself to Gerry. She wasn't even that smelly, figure that. She was good in the tub, she even laid down and rolled over. Monday July 21st, 2003 Disco will be spayed tomorrow. She is probably one of the healthiest of the dogs. My reasoning for doing it right away is that if she pregnant she's not very far and we'll never know until they open her up. But if we wait a week or so she may be too far that the vets wouldn't do it. She's had no diaherra or accidents in her crate or the house so far. She is just very nervous. She did come upstairs this morning all on her own and went back down, then came up again. She likes our couch, she was on it when I left for work this morning. Saturday July 26th, 2003 Disco had a chance to go out on the town this weekend! We took her out to the Grange Fair in Trappe Pennsylvania. She was such a good girl and while she didn't make any overtures to come out to other people, she gave everyone kisses who stopped in to see her. Monday July 28th, 2003 New update on Disco: Her crate training is coming along great. Her separation anxiety problems; crying, howling in crate at night is improving. She has had no accidents in her crate. She does not get in the trash or beg at the table. She goes outside willingly, however, she must be watched that she poops outside before coming back in or she will go on the floor. I think she is getting the idea that pooping is to be done outside. She would make a wonderful pet for an older couple or anyone who is looking for a very mellow couch potato type dog. |
